Allied Instructional Services (AIS) is seeking experienced educational interpreters to provide in-person interpreting services across various locations in Virginia, including Brunswick, Roanoke, Montgomery, Norfolk, and Williamsburg. The role involves working closely with educational teams to support the success of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The ideal candidates will be certified sign language interpreters who are passionate about education and committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment. Compensation will be provided for both direct service time and portal time, ensuring that interpreters are fairly compensated for their efforts. As an educational interpreter, you will be responsible for delivering interpreting services in a variety of educational settings and at all educational levels. This includes working with students in classrooms, during meetings, and in community settings as needed. The position requires a strong commitment to maintaining professional relationships with educational staff, parents, students, and community members. You will be expected to demonstrate professional judgment in all assignments and adhere to the RID Code of Ethics and Professional Code of Conduct. In addition to providing interpreting services, you will participate in meetings such as child study, IEP meetings, and triennial reviews, contributing valuable insights regarding an individual's communication abilities and skills. Your role will also involve maintaining records to document communications and travel, which will be reviewed by your supervisor as requested.
