About The Position

Sorenson Communications, Inc. is seeking a Sign Language Interpreter for their Video Relay Service (VRS) in Saint Cloud, MN. This is a full-time position requiring 32 hours of work per week, with shifts scheduled from Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm MST. The role involves interpreting between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English, ensuring compliance with various regulations and standards. Candidates must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and maintain a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the VRS industry.

Requirements

• Ability to pass the required skills assessment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred but not required).
• Interpreter certification.
• 3 years of experience working as an interpreter (preferred but not required).
• Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly regulated, and customer service-focused environment.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and handle other computer components.
• Regular and predictable attendance.

• Previous VRS experience.

Responsibilities

• Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English.
• Maintain compliance with national, state, or local licensure and certification requirements.
• Demonstrate compliance with Sorenson standards, FCC regulations, and the RID Code of Professional Conduct.
• Accurately complete assigned tasks, projects, and paperwork promptly.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the VRS industry.
• Quickly learn and implement new and changing technologies.
• Work effectively in a team environment, providing and receiving support from colleagues.
• Work effectively in an environment with oversight, including call monitoring and evaluations.
• Enhance interpreting skills through continued education training.
• Complete additional duties and assignments on an ongoing basis.
