The Sign Language Interpreter position at Purple Communications, Inc. is a part-time role that requires providing high-quality professional American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services. Under the supervision of the Communication Center Manager, the interpreter will engage in video interpreting through a call center and may also be required to perform on-site interpreting at various customer locations as needed. This role demands fluency in both American Sign Language and spoken English, along with accurate interpreting skills and a thorough understanding of the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct. The pay range for this position is between $15.74 and $65.00 per hour, depending on factors such as location, education, certifications, and interpreter specialties. As a part-time interpreter, you will be expected to work a minimum of 24 hours per week and be flexible in accepting new or alternative interpreting assignments based on customer demand. The role includes responsibilities such as providing effective video relay service, video remote interpreting, and on-site interpreting for consumers. You will also be expected to support and model the company's mission and values, deliver excellent customer service, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Adherence to company policies and FCC regulations is crucial, as is the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and multi-task effectively. The position also requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel when required.
