  • Follow ethical codes and advocate for D/HH students and faculty in challenging situations.
  • Participate in team interpreting as required.
  • An associate degree in education, social services, or a related field, or graduation from an Interpreter Training Program.
  • At least one year of interpreting experience in an educational setting or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language interpretation techniques and special vocabularies for varied college disciplines.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local laws applicable to services for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
  • Experience with assistive devices for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
  • Proficiency in both voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice modes of interpretation.
