About The Position

SAIC is seeking a technical Space Systems Engineer to performs system and enterprise-level systems engineering (SE) across the life-cycle on complex Space Systems acquisition processes. This position requires an active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph and is located in Chantilly, VA. In this role you will provide expert advice, manage systems engineering processes, and implementation for SIGINT-developed collection systems including space vehicle and associated ground command and control elements. This role requires requires experience in multiple aspects of the program systems engineering lifecycle to aid the customer in operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, architecture development, and acquisition of current and future programs. This role also requires a moderate level of knowledge in modern model-based system engineering (MBSE) techniques in order to aid the customer in appropriately applying digital engineering to their next-generation program.

Requirements

Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
Bachelor’s degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline with at least 15 years of relevant experience.
Understanding of DOD/IC satellite systems and architectures.
Experience in DOD/IC acquisition and program management processes.
Experience with MBSE for requirements management.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building, and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be independent and effective in a government/contractor team environment.
Available to travel domestically.

Nice To Haves

Advanced degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline with at least 15 years of relevant experience.
Prior SIGINT experience.
Previous experience developing technical specifications for space systems.

Responsibilities

Support development of SIGINT-level architectures and integration of new capabilities.
Support customer in CONOPS development.
Lead and conduct cost-performance trade studies to identify and assess satellite constellation architectural options.
Manage and develop requirements from higher level Enterprise governing documents to the Segment level.
Coordinate across the enterprise for any proposed specification changes and facilitate integration of changes into the baseline.
Support transition of specification management activities into an appropriately scoped and purposed MBSE framework.
Understand MBSE model development in support of systems engineering objectives and program milestones.
Identify and assess segment-level impacts of new capabilities, including across specification, internal and external interfaces, and facilitate integration into the current program baseline.
Identify risks to mission closure in the collection segment and evaluate proposed burn-down plans.
Liaise with mission analysis and acquisition teams to ensure completeness across the acquisition.
Support customer design review, providing technical insight to evaluate developer design.
Lead integration of new capabilities to the program baseline.
Manage external interface definition and coordination of changes with external stakeholders and developer.
Provide technical insight to evaluations of developer proposals.
Identify and assess impacts of new capabilities, including across specification, internal and external interfaces, and facilitate integration into the current program baseline.
Advise and mentor customer personnel regarding Segment architecture, specification, and verification and validation.
