The National Systems Group (NSG) serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch. Within NSG, the Electronic Programs Division (EPD) serves as signals intelligence (SIGINT) domain experts to define, deliver, and analyze performance for SIGINT systems. The Future Capabilities team resides within the EPD Program Office, delivering modeling and simulation-based performance assessments to inform SIGINT architecture and engineering decisions. As the SIGINT Modeling & Simulation Engineering Manager (Systems Director – Signal & Image Process Engineering and Modeling & Simulation Engineering) you will manage the Future Capabilities team. This team assists with the development and integration of multiple national reconnaissance systems, supporting both the SIGINT Chief Architect and Chief Engineer. Under your leadership, the Future Capabilities team will perform modeling and simulation of satellite systems and mission performance assessments to inform senior customer decisions, deliver system analyses, support solution architecting, and help to coordinate the integration of space and ground capabilities to ensure end to end closure of the missions. This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, VA, which requires 100% onsite work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, math, computer science, physics, or other related discipline.
  • Ten or more years experience after Bachelor’s degree with systems engineering, program management, design, architecture, performance modeling, simulation, analysis, satellite acquisition, data processing, phenomenology, or other space related technical fields. (Time spent earning an advanced degree counts towards this requirement.)
  • Experience and familiarity with SIGINT architecture and systems.
  • Experience with one or more modeling and simulation software tools used to assess satellite system or architecture performance (e.g. STK, SOAP, Matlab, Python, or similar).
  • Experience leading technical teams, with demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff and motivate individuals to achieve high performance through collaboration.
  • Experience briefing and/or supporting Government Customers.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree from an accredited program in engineering, math, computer science, physics, or other related discipline.
  • Twelve or more years progressively responsible related experience after Bachelor’s degree.
  • Technical knowledge of SIGINT mission needs & capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across NSG and with members of Aerospace’s Defense Systems Group (DSG) to provide multi-phenomenology end-to-end performance analyses supporting cross-domain customer modeling needs.
  • Engage with, and serve as an The Aerospace Corporation (Aerospace) representative to, Government Customers while engaging with stakeholders, other support contractors (e.g. Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) staff), and development contractors.
  • Lead the Future Capabilities team in leveraging Aerospace's Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) expertise to complete relevant modeling, analysis, and assessment tasks.
  • Guide the evolution and maintenance of analytical tools & system models used to inform expected performance of SIGINT payloads and architecture elements.
  • Present technical recommendations and findings to Senior Government Customers.
  • Manage professional technical staff (PTS) budget allocations and use across the Aerospace program office and ETG support teams.
  • Support Future Capabilities team staff development, plan and execute hiring activities, and manage the day-to-day execution of team activities.
