Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Splunk Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers focused on observability, log management, and data pipeline optimization. This role combines deep technical expertise in Splunk and CRIBL with proven people management capabilities. The ideal candidate will drive strategy, execution, and operational maturity across Splunk-based platforms while mentoring and developing engineering talent. This position plays a critical role in aligning telemetry capabilities with enterprise security and performance goals. In this role, you will: Provide technical and strategic leadership for Splunk engineering initiatives. Translate business and compliance requirements into scalable technical solutions. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Mentor team members and support career development aligned with business objectives. Interface with senior leadership to align engineering efforts with enterprise priorities.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in log management, observability, or cybersecurity.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Splunk architecture and administration.
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience
  • Experience with CRIBL Stream or similar data routing platforms.
  • Strong understanding of log ingestion, parsing, normalization, and enrichment.
  • Familiarity with Splunk Cloud and hybrid deployments.
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform).

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in Splunk (e.g., Splunk Certified Architect), CRIBL, or related technologies.
  • Experience integrating Splunk with cloud-native services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with SIEM, SOAR, and threat detection use cases.
  • Proven experience operating within Agile or SAFe frameworks.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as finance or healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of Splunk engineers and data pipeline specialists.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Splunk Cloud and CRIBL Stream deployments.
  • Oversee engineering efforts across cloud and on-prem environments to ensure scalable and secure log ingestion.
  • Partner with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure log fidelity, performance, and compliance.
  • Drive automation and orchestration initiatives to streamline data onboarding and enrichment.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and reports for operational and security use cases.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and guide adoption to enhance observability and data pipeline capabilities.
  • Operate within Agile frameworks to manage backlogs, prioritize work, and ensure timely delivery of engineering outcomes.
