Keep reading. SUMMARY The Shuttle Manager plans, supervises and monitors all of the operations of the Shuttle Department. The Shuttle Manager is a working manager, who can step in and drive under any circumstance presented. The Manager has direct oversight of a staff of non-CDL drivers and CDL-Drivers. Such oversight includes hiring, training and scheduling all drivers for the department. The Manager is also responsible for the care and maintenance of a fleet of shuttle buses and ground transportation vehicles. The Manager also works with internal and external groups to promote and sell transportation packages.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of educations and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic computer skills to include Word, Excel Office as well as Maestro and Point of Sale Software.
  • Must have a clean driving record and valid Vermont Commercial Driver License, Class C with a Passenger Endorsement.
  • Must undergo and successfully pass an annual DOT medical examination.
  • Must be able to perform pre-and-post-trip vehicle inspections, cleaning and servicing to assist in maintaining vehicles in a safe operating condition.
  • Must be able to follow an on demand schedule of pick-ups and drop-offs on resort as well as at transportation hubs and terminals.
  • Must adhere to traffic regulations, collect fares and provide verbal information to the public regarding routes, schedules and transfer points.
  • Must liaison with resort staff with regard to arrival and departure of group destination business.
  • Must be willing to greet every customer in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Must be flexible with work shifts/hours, including overtime, to service late departs and arrivals, peak volume periods, vacated shifts, and other emergency situations.
  • Must follow all Jay Peak, Inc. work rules and procedures as set forth in the Employee Handbook and through managements instruction.
  • Must be willing to listen to customer complaints and direct information to the Director.
  • Must provide, maintain and ensure complete customer service for all the guests and staff members utilizing the service.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the activities of the Shuttle Supervisor as well as all drivers within the department; supervise the shuttle department ensuring operational efficiency, safety and security.
  • Prepares work schedules, delegates work assignments as needed, evaluates and resolves problems presented by employees; assists with shuttle driving as needed (absences, lunches, breaks, special events, etc.)
  • Participates in the hiring of new drivers; maintains personnel files pertinent to employee activity, conducts performance evaluations; performs employee counseling and recommends/ participates in disciplinary action of subordinates.
  • Assists the Director with shuttle planning and program development; including making recommendations for new shuttle routes, shuttle stop locations, shuttle schedule changes and provides input toward developing long term planning.
  • Develops policies and procedures relating to the shuttle service; obtains management approval when appropriate.
  • Coordinates with Director and Fleet Manager on the maintenance/repair of vehicles.
  • Assists the Director with the annual budget preparation relating to the shuttle program.
  • Prepare and analyze shuttle operation reports; including passenger counts, mileage, fuel consumption, route studies, expenditures, etc.
  • Books all internal and external ground transportation requests. Responsible for the collection of fees owed to the resort; responsible for the proper handling of cash per resort policy and procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned which could be directly related, or un-related to original position.
