About The Position

APEX International Education Partners is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Bus/Shuttle Driver to transport students to and from various schools in Connecticut. This position requires a split-shift schedule during the academic year. The ideal candidate must hold a valid CT Driver License, demonstrate excellent driving skills, and prioritize student safety and comfort.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle operations and maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and follow instructions accurately.
  • Familiarity with Connecticut state and local motor vehicle laws and regulations.
  • Capability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and uphold privacy requirements.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours as dictated by school schedules, including split shifts from 6:15am- 8:15am and 1:00pm-3:00pm with availability for additional hours during weekdays and weekends.
  • Physical ability to drive for extended periods and assist with student-related tasks such as moving luggage.
  • Commitment to attending mandatory trainings and maintaining driving certifications.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience driving or transporting students, preferably in a school bus or shuttle capacity.
  • Valid Connecticut Driver's License and an excellent (clean) driving record.
  • Compliance with all background checks and DCF checks.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and flexibility to accommodate changing route demands.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and assist with student needs as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and operational readiness. Document all findings and communicate any issues promptly.
  • Assist in waking up students and verifying their readiness for school.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Operate the vehicle responsibly under varying weather and traffic conditions, ensuring the safety of student passengers.
  • Refuel the vehicle at the end of each shift and perform final inspections.
  • Ensure cleanliness by regularly cleaning inside of vehicles by removing trash, vacuuming, wiping down dirty surfaces, etc.
  • Report any maintenance needs.
  • Immediately report vehicle maintenance issues and traffic accidents to the Transportation Dispatcher and Director of Residential Life & Operations.
  • Request police or ambulance service as needed. Assist injured persons from first-aid kit until these services arrive.
  • Maintain a valid CT Driver's license or CDL Class B with P & S Endorsements and adhere to all licensing, training, and certification requirements. Immediately report any changes in driving status or insurability to the Director of Residential Life & Operations.
  • Uphold superior customer service, professionalism, and confidentiality while interacting with students and school staff.
