Operates shuttle bus and/or passenger coach-type vehicles. Safely transports passengers to various destinations while adhering to traffic laws and company policies. Adheres to assignments in accordance with scheduled shuttle routes prepared by the Manager, Supervisor, and/or Dispatcher. Reports to the Supervisor of Transportation (or to a designated individual in the Supervisor's absence).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
  • Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes
  • MGH Security RMV Check/Registry of Motor Vehicles Driving Report - MGB Internal required
  • Commercial Drivers License [Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Department of Transportation Registry of Motor Vehicles required
  • Proven experience as a shuttle bus driver 1-2 years required
  • Excellent driving skills for shuttle buses and coach-type vehicles with the ability to navigate various road and weather conditions safely.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.
  • Great improvisational skills.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to obtain DOT medical card from Occupational Health.
  • Ability to possess and maintain an Air Brake Endorsement and Passenger Endorsement on CDL license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, courteous, and professional service to passengers while en route to/from destinations. Follow established routes and departure times. Communicates with dispatch for guidance on any detours/delays.
  • Operates vehicles in accordance with Mass General Brigham Fleet Safety Program Policies and Procedures, as well as in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Maintains an accurate log documenting the number of passengers, trips completed, mileage, interior/exterior vehicle inspection, and other information that might be requested.
  • Ensures adherence to passenger limits, both seated and standing.
  • Assists passengers with disabilities and others needing assistance to board and disembark from the vehicle via the wheelchair lift.
  • Reports any emergencies/concerns with vehicle and/or passengers immediately to the Supervisor and/or Dispatcher.
