About The Position
As a Short Haul Driver at Americold, you will be responsible for operating a Class A commercial vehicle (tractor trailer) to make pick-ups and deliveries at various warehouses and customer locations. This position is local, allowing you to return home daily. You will be required to load your own trailers for the first runs of the day using a forklift, for which Americold will provide certification. Deliveries will primarily be drop and hook, ensuring efficiency in your daily operations. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, typically from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and you will earn $22.55 per hour, paid weekly. In this role, you will also be responsible for maintaining all appropriate paperwork, such as bills of lading and invoices, and must strictly adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This includes keeping daily trip logs, conducting pre- and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections, and following hours of service regulations. Your ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers will be essential to your success in this position, as you will need to read and interpret road maps and road signs while ensuring a high level of customer service.
