Summary Assists server in providing friendly and professional service to our members and guests. Promotes and follows LJBTC, Inc.’s Signature Service standards and requirements ensuring a lasting impression of exemplary service resulting in supremely satisfied and loyal members and guests. OUTCOME This position impacts the guest’s overall impression of the restaurant and the quality of the dining experience. The support aspect of the busser position helps enable other members of the Dining Room Team to focus on guest needs and expectations. La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is a fifth-generation, family-owned and operated company dedicated to the operation of a 21-acre beachside resort. The resort encompasses three properties, including the exclusive 90-room La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, the 128-room La Jolla Shores Hotel and the award-winning Marine Room restaurant. Resort amenities include 13 championship tennis courts, 5 pickleball courts, a nine-hole Par-3 golf course, two swimming pools, three oceanfront restaurants and cocktail lounges, and one of Southern California’s only private beaches

Requirements

• Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Must have the ability to communicate with customers fluently in English.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must obtain and maintain a current San Diego County Food Handlers card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

• Collects reusable items or waste materials such as table service, paper and left-over food stuffs.
• Separates and disposes of waste in proper containers.
• Moves reusable materials to kitchen or storage.
• Inspects materials and sorts items or materials into piles at the dish cleaning area or linen collection area.
• Places in container according to type, size, condition, coloring, marking, or other characteristics.
• Sets tables as required.
• Provides drinking water and frequently refurbishes beverages upon guest or server requests.
• Anticipates guest needs and provides genuinely friendly, attentive, professional service.
• Maintains all service and restaurant areas as required.
• Completes assigned “side work” duties (preparation/set-up and closing prerequisites).
• Provides room service- prompt thorough service to hotel guests and picks up trays.
• Assists servers in attending to guests’ needs and expectations.
• Must obtain and maintain a current San Diego County Food Handlers card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.
• Other duties may be assigned.
