About The Position

The Shopper is responsible for selecting, processing, packaging, and staging the customer orders for both Curbside Pickup and Delivery. The Shopper is directly responsible for ensuring Quality, Variety, and Service for the end customer through adherence to Company Policies and a timely shopping process, while also assisting the store in delivering QVS to its in-store customers at the same time. Schedule: Shoppers, as with all staff, are needed specifically at the days and times they are scheduled in order to properly fulfill orders that the store receives at any given time. Adhering to schedules and arriving to work before the start of the scheduled shift is imperative for Shoppers, as well as timely communication of any deviations to appropriate members of Management. As Holidays generally represent peak demand for our business, Shoppers must be available to work on and around Holidays. Shoppers should also be available to work at least one Saturday or Sunday each week, to ensure proper staffing for weekend business. Duties: The Shopper will perform whatever is necessary to fulfill his/her responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s Mission, Associate Handbook, and policies. These duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • At least 21 years of age (purchases age requirements for items at checkout).
  • Physical ability to perform duties listed above, including standing for prolonged periods of time, lifting 40 pounds, and climbing step stools/ladders.
  • Prior experience in supermarket retail or similar Shopper position
  • Minimal recorded absences or tardiness
  • Demonstrates tactful customer service abilities and concern for the customer
  • Exhibits a mind-set for problem-solving and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Remaining vigilant for incoming orders on Shopper Device and accepting orders within three minutes
  • Prioritize in-store customers at all times, including providing assistance
  • Properly care for Shopper Device and ensure Device is checked in at the end of shift
  • Efficiently shop orders to ensure high rate of shopping speed, at no more than 1.2 minutes per item (no less than 50 items per hour).
  • Correctly identify and select items in accordance with customers specifications
  • Inspect merchandise for Quality before adding to basket (inferior quality items should be pulled form shelf)
  • Properly record items selected in the Shopper Application on the Device
  • Minimize “out-of-stocks” or “refunds” on orders by recommending replacement items
  • Maintain a customer rating of 4.5 stars or higher
  • Contribute to a “team” culture within the store, assisting other areas of the store where possible during the shop
  • Blocking/Facing shelves/displays during the shop to maximize QVS
  • Retrieve “Go-backs” from the shelves and return to proper location
  • Pull inferior quality items (i.e. damaged or expired) from the shelf
  • Shopping items from backstock/top shelf when possible
  • Shopping high volume items (i.e. water, soda) from displays or backroom inventory to ensure the shelf stays filled.
  • Perform daily cleaning of staging equipment to ensure QVS
  • Perform other cleaning, stocking, bagging, cashiering, etc. roles as directed by management
