We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Product Development (Shop) Technician within our Bedding Group Product Development team to help support our bedding business. As a Product Development (Shop) Technician, you will have the opportunity to work on prototype products for customer samples and product performance testing. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by directly contributing to the research and development of new bedding products. The team you will be working with is innovative and collaborative, and values the challenging work and diversity of thought.

  • Build and assemble prototype products for customer samples and product testing.
  • Ensure products are made to meet target specifications.
  • Assemble shipments for customers.
  • Assist with new products in production environments.
  • Follow all written procedures, work instructions (verbal or written) by not only supervisor but any other member of engineering staff or management.
  • Perform other duties related to the development of new products.
  • Understand and accurately read tape measures, calipers, micrometer, etc.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Work well with others.
  • Operate basic hand power tools (drills, saws, radial arm saw, ban saw, table saw, etc).
  • Excellent Communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Cooperative attitude, necessary to work effectively with others.
  • To be detail oriented.
  • Self-starter and be able to work effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision.
  • Keep work area clean, safe, and organized.
  • Commitment to perform all duties as requested, deemed appropriate, and new duties as they arise.
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout the workday.
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs as needed.
  • Use of hands for detangling wire, pulling coils, handling tools or baskets.
  • Ability to work overtime if needed.
  • Operate a pallet jack, fork truck.
  • CNC controlled equipment.
  • Welding - Mig or Tig.
  • Basic Machining.
  • Basic computer skills.
