About The Position

The Shop Technician is responsible for repairs and maintenance of rotating equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, valves, blowers, and vacuum pumps. The services may be performed in our repair facility located in West Springfield, MA, or may be completed in the field at a customer’s facility. The Shop Technician must comply with company safety policies at all times and is responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Requirements

  • Willingness to learn and be a team player.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.
  • Driver’s license, DOT card a plus.
  • Strong work ethic with ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate with engineering, technical support, sales, and management.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments.
  • This role requires the ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  • This role requires the ability to use electric and manual lifting devices.

Responsibilities

  • Completes initial inspection and required paperwork for all items to be repaired or serviced.
  • Tear down and inspections of equipment, make recommendations for repairs.
  • Assist with sandblasting responsibilities and painting when needed.
  • Help maintain shop housekeeping.
  • Make safety recommendations, assist with monthly safety inspections.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with equipment, devices, or products; uses precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to make measurements.
  • Learn and master coating applications, paint, epoxy, and other coatings.
  • Assembles equipment per manufacturer specifications, verifying acceptable tolerances are achieved.
  • Assists Field and Shop Technicians with tasks related to current equipment, including pump removal, pump install, shaft alignment, vibration analysis, lube maintenance, and others.
  • Maintains and completes required paperwork and time sheet.
  • Help maintain a clean shop and perform other duties as assigned
