About The Position

Performs general labor in the shop dealing with glass handling, metal fabrication, assembly, glazing or packaging.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED; or entry level experience and/or training
• Must be able to ask questions of supervisor, listen and follow verbal instructions, communicate verbally with co-workers, read all safety rules and instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work.
• Must be able to read a tape measure and perform simple mathematics in regard to measurements of length.
• Must be able to follow instructions furnished orally, in writing, or in diagram form.
• Must be able to make generalizations, evaluations or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria.

Responsibilities

• Learns and performs within an assigned department of glass handling, metal fabrication processes, assembly, glazing or packaging.
• Training includes reading shop drawings and blueprints, machine operation and/or using manual and hand tools.
• Follows standard operating procedures in the shop.
• Meets established daily productivity goals.
• Reports obstacles to team leader.
• Participates in 5S by organizing and cleaning work area.
• Participates in creating a team environment by assisting other shop workers as requested.
• Creates a safe work environment for self and others by following all safety procedures, wearing company provided PPE, and participating in safety suggestion program.
• May operate a machine or other equipment.
• Applies Continuous Improvement principles in own work performance.
• Drives forklift, if certified.
• Other duties may be assigned.
