Shop Team Lead - Weekdays
About The Position
For over 100 years, Maguire Iron has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Shop Team Lead provides leadership, mentoring and overall team oversight for production operations team including welders, operators, laborers, production scheduling, and continuous improvement. Requirements
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to listen, understand and follow directions.
- Flexibility to work in various manufacturing areas as requested.
- Ability to understand and perform all jobs of personnel being assigned.
- 1 year of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
- Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
- Must be able to see details at close range.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
Responsibilities
- Interprets engineering specifications, prints and job orders to workers and assigns jobs between areas
- Assign personnel to efficiently produce items being built
- Confer with supervisors and other leaders to coordinate operations and activities within or between shifts and other functional areas
- Provides guidance and expert advice on technical, systems, or process- related topics
- Enforces safety procedures and guide lines, and housekeeping practices
- Identifies training needs, and conducts training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures
- Observes technical performance of the area staff and provides on the spot guidance
- Drive operational improvements and efficiencies to streamline production process
- Participate fully in our quality initiatives and attend training and complete assessments as required
- Positions heavy fabricated metal components in fit-up jigs and weld fixtures utilizing overhead cranes
- Operates robotic and manual weld machines
- Operate heavy equipment such as skid loaders, bobcats, forklifts, etc.
