About The Position

The Shop Foreman is a hands-on leader responsible for directing day-to-day Repair & Maintenance (R&M) activities for Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) equipment. This role works directly on the shop floor, leading technicians, coordinating workload, and ensuring equipment is repaired, inspected, and returned to service safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards. The Shop Foreman sets the pace, enforces expectations, and acts as the primary link between shop personnel, management, and Operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant hands-on industry experience
  • Proven experience working in a mechanical, manufacturing, or oilfield service shop environment
  • Experience tracking inventory
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through operational or procedural change
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Natural leader with the ability to motivate, coach, and hold others accountable
  • Highly organized with strong prioritization and time-management skills

Nice To Haves

  • University degree or technical diploma in relevant field is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of API and ISO standards is an asset
  • MPD, oilfield, or drilling experience is considered a strong asset

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on leadership on the shop floor, leading by example and maintaining a strong work ethic
  • Assign daily tasks, set priorities, and balance workloads to meet operational deadlines
  • Mentor, coach, and support shop personnel to improve technical skills and performance
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and quality expectations
  • Coordinate and actively support all R&M activities for MPD equipment
  • Perform and oversee visual inspections, functional checks, and detailed evaluations of returned equipment
  • Ensure repairs and rebuilds meet technical, safety, and quality requirements before release
  • Support Operations and Engineering in diagnosing and resolving technical issues
  • Lead inventory routines including receiving, inspection, tracking, and restocking of parts and equipment
  • Ensure accurate documentation of repairs, inspections, and inventory movements
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce shop documentation and procedures in compliance with API Q1 standards
  • Provide daily shop status updates during operational and planning meetings
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the shop, management, and Operations teams
  • Identify bottlenecks, resource constraints, and improvement opportunities, and communicate solutions
  • Promote, enforce, and model a strong safety-first culture on the shop floor
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety policies and best practices
