About The Position

The Shop Supervisor at Ziegler Cat is responsible for overseeing a team of Technicians, focusing on their hiring, development, and daily coaching. This role involves managing service call labor in D365, ensuring repairs are completed safely and efficiently, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety within the shop environment.

Requirements

  • 2-year technical degree preferred; High school degree required
  • 5+ years of technical or mechanical knowledge strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of leadership experience required (mentor, lead, or supervise)
  • Strong computer skills required (MS Office products)
  • Strong people leader who develops employees through coaching and feedback
  • Strong communication and organizational skills required

Responsibilities

  • Assign work to technicians for service calls
  • Approve employee time in Workday or D365
  • Monitor service calls to ensure estimates are met
  • Manage bay space and verify additional work request details
  • Collaborate on invoice disputes and service call details
  • Troubleshoot parts availability issues
  • Work with technicians to ensure standard jobs are met
  • Complete incident reports and conduct branch safety walks
  • Ensure appropriate PPE is used and uphold safety standards
  • Review completed Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
  • Work with employees to create a safety accountability plan
  • Hold regular safety meetings and uphold contamination control standards
  • Review technicians' work for quality and timeliness
  • Validate technicians' documentation on parts warranty
  • Resolve customer complaints in partnership with service advisors
  • Facilitate tool replacement and torque testing program
  • Provide input on parts inventory at the branch
  • Stay updated on new equipment/products and technical topics
  • Answer technician questions and coach on service calls
  • Conduct performance action conversations and hold team meetings
  • Monitor and enforce employee training completion
  • Plan training for technicians based on customer needs
  • Build team morale through routine conversations and team activities
  • Interview and hire technicians
  • Support the technician intern mentor program
  • Oversee onboarding of new technicians
  • Complete annual employee performance reviews
  • Maintain employee records in Workday
  • Support employee career development and answer benefits questions
  • Work with HR for employee accommodations and leave situations
  • Coordinate with Workers Compensation for restricted work accommodations
