About The Position

Milton CAT is seeking a highly experienced Level I Shop Service Technician specializing in CAT equipment. The Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, reconditioning, overhauling, and maintaining heavy equipment and components, including skid steers, excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, engines, and hydraulic systems. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years experience on Cat equipment or other similar equipment.
  • Highly skilled in at least four mechanical systems (transmissions, engines, hydraulics, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer and related software (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong math skills.
  • Able to lift more than 50 pounds.
  • Able to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced service environment.
  • Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience on CAT heavy equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, remove, install, replace, re-build, repair & test parts/equipment on construction equipment at an advanced level with proficiency.
  • Remove, disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts.
  • Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
  • Determine reusability of parts in accordance with published Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
  • Order replacement parts ensuring that parts ordered are correct and complete at time of order.
  • Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
  • Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components.
  • Prepare, inspect and operate machines prior to delivery.
  • Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems.
  • Prepare inspection and appraisal reports.
  • Prepare accurate and complete service reports timely.
  • Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance adhering to company policy.
  • Work flexible hours in addition to the normal work schedule for emergency calls or routine service as required.
