About The Position

This position demonstrates the ability to perform basic inspections, basic diagnoses, and basic repairs of heavy equipment and/or related equipment or components, following established procedures and guidelines. Works as a member of a team to provide basic mechanical services that satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals. Entry-level position – Generally has less than two years of experience and/or demonstrated job-relevant knowledge/skills. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job; works under immediate supervision. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems
  • Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Ability to operate a conventional forklift
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
  • The ability to read, write, and understand information
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Must have/acquire basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic troubleshooting and diagnosing of equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Assists in the rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining of equipment and components
  • Learns how to plan equipment and component repairs
  • Learns how to complete parts orders and identify parts for return
  • Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
  • Completes all documents associated with repairs promptly
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
