About The Position

Iowa Pump Works, a UFT company, is a pump sales, service, and consulting company with offices in Ankeny, Iowa, and Louisville, Nebraska. We offer a wide range of products for municipal, industrial, and construction projects, including water and wastewater pumps. Our factory-trained technicians are always available to assist with pump repairs, motor repairs, and control panel repairs. As part of the Iowa Pump Works family, Minnesota Pump Works (2012) and Wisconsin Pump Works (2016) also provide pump sales, services, repairs, and consulting services to North Dakota, South Dakota, and the upper Michigan peninsula. Join our team at Iowa Pump Works in Ankeny, IA, as a Shop Service Technician! We are looking for a dependable individual with mechanical aptitude to be an integral part of our technical repair and service team. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing wastewater pumps, panels, and associated equipment. As a Shop Service Technician, you will work both independently and collaboratively, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all pump equipment and pump components.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Mechanical background is required
  • At least 1 year experience repairing pumps is preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Hold a valid Iowa driver's license with a clean record
  • Must have mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
  • Must possess analytic abilities and be detail oriented
  • Ability to read diagrams and blueprints
  • Must be able to multitask and have excellent time management skills
  • Ability to perform work safely, using proper power/hand tools and wearing appropriate PPE
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces with dirty or odorous conditions
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary and be a team player

Responsibilities

  • Perform pump rebuilding, breakdown, evaluation, repair, and testing in a timely matter.
  • Install and ensure the efficient and safe operation of pump equipment, including new or replacement parts.
  • Inspect and repair pumps to ensure efficient operation and proper functioning.
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment movement, installation progress, and customer interactions.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on pump equipment.
  • Clean and test all repaired equipment to meet company standards.
  • Encourages and builds positive relationships and communicates effectively with all co-workers and outside customers and vendors.
  • Follow safety & housekeeping standards and procedures and look after the safety of others.
  • May need to respond to emergency call-outs when required.
