The Shop Safety Manager position in the Syracuse, NY area is a critical role responsible for ensuring workplace safety and compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. This position involves planning and implementing safety policies and procedures that align with local, state, and federal guidelines. The Shop Safety Manager will be tasked with developing training programs for both managers and employees, focusing on work site safety practices, fire prevention, and the proper handling of hazardous materials, including chemicals and equipment. In addition to training, the Shop Safety Manager will conduct regular inspections of organizational facilities to identify existing or potential health and safety hazards. This proactive approach will involve collaborating with human resources to determine necessary corrective or preventative measures, and following up to ensure that these measures are effectively implemented. The role also includes compiling and submitting accident reports to human resources, assisting in the investigation of accidents and injuries, and preparing materials and evidence for organizational use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. This position offers a salary starting at $60K, depending on experience, and is a direct placement opportunity. Candidates are expected to have an associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with at least 5 years of related experience, or a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Certification as a Safety Trainer with OSHA 500/510 or OSHA 501/511 credentials is preferred, or candidates must be willing to obtain these certifications within two years of employment. A crane operator's license is also preferred but not mandatory, and experience with the safe operation of hydraulic and lattice cranes is considered a plus.
