About The Position

Berg Construction is a locally owned and operated excavation company. We are currently growing and are looking to hire a Mechanic/Service Technician to join our Team. The Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing issues on automotive, heavy trucks and a variety of construction equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems of heavy duty trucks, vehicles, and other construction equipment Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as, oil changes, tune ups etc. Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify components as needed Positive interface with service department, supervisors, and clients Maintain functional condition by listening to operator complaints, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions At times provide off-site repair assistance with our Road Mechanic Prepare proper documentation of actions taken Maintain conformity to safety requirements and other regulations Positive interface with service, department, peers and clients Other duties, as assigned The description shall not, however, be construed as a complete listing of all miscellaneous, incidental, or similar duties which may be required from day to day.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years' experience with automotive and heavy truck repairs and heavy construction equipment
  • Ability to effectively diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment problems
  • Strong initiative required; ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Have a clear understanding of the necessity of equipment safety
  • Must have basic set of mechanic's hand tools
  • Must be able to work on several types and brands of equipment
  • Valid Driver's License, CDL preferred but not required
  • Must be able to pass drug test and background check
  • A good attitude

Responsibilities

  • Maintain functional condition by listening to operator complaints, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions
  • At times provide off-site repair assistance with our Road Mechanic
  • Prepare proper documentation of actions taken
  • Maintain conformity to safety requirements and other regulations
  • Positive interface with service, department, peers and clients
  • Other duties, as assigned
