About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager is accountable to the Store Director and is responsible in the Specific Store Departments for maximizing sales and gross profit, protection of company assets, store conditions, presentation, control of losses, and contributes to the company's operating objectives. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible to maintain store conditions with Shopper Centricity and Loyalty as the key motivator in making decisions while focusing on improving overall profitability. To manage and train associates to prepare and stock products in the manner prescribed by the company and department standards (i.e. size, quality and CGO). To execute efficient operating and merchandising programs while maintaining quality and sanitation control to generate profits.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) from two-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to perform and execute concepts of basic algebra and geometry as it pertains to discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to train and direct people.
  • ServSafe Certification required or approved equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Four year college degree strongly preferred.
  • Previous advertising experience is preferred.
  • Outstanding communication skills including presentation and negotiation experience.
  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills with an ability to motivate others and to coordinate multiple merchandising/marketing and advertising activities.
  • Previous retail advertising experience, including ability to direct Advertising Department in coordinating store ad layouts, as well as experience with ad production practices is preferred.
  • Well-developed PC skills with working knowledge of software/hardware applications (MSOffice mandatory): Power Point and Excel skills a strong plus.
  • Must be innovative self-starter who can coordinate multiple activities.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the posted schedule and work shifts as per applicable direct reports scheduling.
  • Adhere and comply with all store rules, company policies, safety requirements, security standards and all local, state, federal, health and civil code regulations.
  • Greet all customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
  • Prioritize daily tasks as you serve our customers to meet our Service Priorities of Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency.
  • Demonstrate the foundations of Shopper Loyalty through professionalism, commitment to service, reaching resolutions, making shoppers feel trusted, welcome, important, special and pleased.
  • Supervise Nonperishable Department, including assignment of daily activities and scheduling.
  • Use technologies on a daily basis preparing reports, sign making, using word processing or other software, track inventory using supply chain management software.
  • Observe store rules and company policies.
  • Maintain store conditions per company standard to improve profitability.
  • Maximize department sales and profits.
  • Develop and maintain a team concept to improve associate morale, communication, union relations and ultimately, working conditions.
  • Maximize store profits and gross profit margins.
  • Oversee the execution of shrink project books and maintain daily purchase to sales information.
  • Responsible for overseeing all assets ordered with careful attention to achieving company goals for backroom inventory levels.
  • Achieve or surpass productivity and payroll goals in each department.
  • Maintain customer service levels according to company standards.
  • Comply with company and governmental sanitation standards.
  • Ensure weekly on-hand inventory goals through proper ordering practices.
  • Manage the recruitment, development, training and counseling of all associates.
  • Manage others and adhere to company human resource and personnel policies as well as state and federal laws.
  • Establish a working relationship with all support staff and supervisors.
  • Develop a daily/weekly workload plan, coordinate responsibilities and follow through to maximize results.
  • Responsible for maintaining an effective buy in program.
  • Develop and execute merchandising plan weekly to mirror company advertising themes and programs.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and safe use of equipment.
  • Ensure proper usage compliance and handling of all supplies.
  • Responsible for opening or closing store, where applicable.
  • Establish community involvement.
  • Manage 10-15 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 125-200 associates in the store.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of respective store.
  • Supervise 125-200 non-supervisory associates.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training associates.
  • Planning, assigning and directing work.
  • Appraising performance.
  • Awarding and discipline associates.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $29.80 - $34.60 per hour
