About The Position

The Shop Porter primary objective is to supports the daily operations of the Service Department by managing various activities such as unloading, loading, staging, organizing, and relocating both new, used, and service forklift inventory. It involves frequent collaboration with other departments including Service, Parts, and Rentals. Key responsibilities include receiving inventory, maintaining a clean and organized yard and warehouse, performing light mechanical work, assisting with inventory control, and handling basic data entry.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; 1–2 years of rental or warehouse experience preferred, along with basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of forklift and OSHA safety standards (certification provided if not current).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively across departments and with customers.
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, technology-driven service environment.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, flexibility, and critical thinking skills; must be dependable and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency required, including the ability to manage email, use an iPad or computer, and perform basic data entry.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and be available for overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain the sales warehouse, yard, and equipment inventory.
  • Collaborate with Parts, Service, and Rental departments to coordinate service flow and communication.
  • Assist the Shop Forklift Service Manager with administrative tasks, equipment inspections, light maintenance, and filing.
  • Move equipment and inventory between intake, storage, and service areas to support workflow and display standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in warehouse, yard, and general exterior areas, including sweeping and debris removal.
  • Create and manage equipment and inventory tags.
  • Assist customers and vendors by answering questions and directing them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Keep dealership lots, driveways, and sidewalks clean and orderly, moving equipment as directed.
  • Move forklifts to and from service lanes, stalls, and inventory areas as needed.
  • Provide backup support for general shipping and receiving operations.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor
