About The Position

The position serves as a liaison between Planning, Scheduling, Production, and Project Management. The individual will verify work package availability for planned production look-ahead and address any constraints by collaborating with relevant departments. Responsibilities include assessing material availability, coordinating minor work delays, validating work pack kitting accuracy, and communicating discrepancies. The role also involves reviewing open work packages, coordinating daily activities with production supervisory personnel, and ensuring efficient construction processes while reducing work in progress (WIP). Additionally, the individual will communicate lessons learned from the field to improve planning data and schedules.

Requirements

  • Two to four (2-4) years of shipbuilding experience.
  • Two (2) years of shipbuilding planning experience preferred or equivalent.
  • Degrees in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering can be substituted for work experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and run meetings with multi-departmental personnel.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Provides liaison between Planning, Scheduling, Production, and Project Management.
  • Verifies work package availability for planned production look-ahead.
  • Works with Planning, Scheduling, and Production to balance scheduled work in case of constraints.
  • Assesses material availability at the work pack level.
  • Coordinates minor work delays with Production, Project, and Logistics.
  • Validates work pack kitting accuracy with Production.
  • Communicates discrepancies with supervision and the Planning team.
  • Reviews work packages that remain open after a module has finished its stage of construction.
  • Determines if work should have finished or if a correction to the plan is required.
  • Coordinates daily activities with Production supervisory personnel to ensure smooth construction.
  • Communicates lessons learned from the field to improve Planning's data and schedule.
