About The Position

Provides liaison between Planning, Scheduling, Production and Project Management. Verify work package availability for planned production look-ahead. In the event of work pack constraints, work with Planning, Scheduling and Production to balance scheduled work. Assess material availability at the work pack level. Coordinate minor work delays with Production, Project and Logistics. Work with Production to validate work pack kitting accuracy. Communicate discrepancies with supervision and the Planning team. Review work packages that remain open when a module has finished its stage of construction. Determine if the work should have finished or if a correction to the plan is required. Works closely with Production supervisory personnel to coordinate daily activities to ensure smooth and efficient construction while working to reduce WIP Works closely with Production supervisory personnel to coordinate the flow of interim products and materials to ensure smooth and efficient construction. Communicate lessons learned from the field so they can be incorporated into Planning’s data and the schedule. Answers questions about work scope. Complies with Austal’s employee handbook general guidelines, company procedures and policies.

Requirements

  • Two to four (2-4) years ship building experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Must be able to organize and run meetings with multi-departmental personnel.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word.
  • Candidates must meet the following employment eligibility guidelines to be considered for employment with Austal USA: 18 years of age or older at time of application Able to provide proof of US Person Status No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date No felony convictions of Drug crimes within three years from disposition date Willing to submit to a drug screen Willing to submit to a background check The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.
  • Must comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations while performing daily job tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years shipbuilding planning experience preferred or equivalent.
  • Degrees in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering can be substituted for work experience.
