About The Position

The Shop Mechanic supports the maintenance and repair of company vehicles, yard equipment, and facility assets across nursery operations. Working under the direction of the Lead Mechanic, this role performs routine preventative maintenance, moderate-level repairs, and equipment servicing to ensure safe and reliable operation. The Shop Mechanic plays an important role in minimizing equipment downtime, maintaining safe working conditions, and supporting efficient nursery operations.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of basic mechanical tools and power tools.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance and moderate equipment repairs.
  • Strong attention to safety procedures and safe work practices.
  • Ability to accurately complete maintenance records and service documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while following direction from the Lead Mechanic.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on yard equipment, agricultural equipment, or light- to medium-duty vehicles.
  • Experience performing maintenance across multiple locations.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to support repairs at other nursery locations.
  • Ability to participate in occasional overnight travel for equipment repairs or training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on company vehicles and equipment.
  • Check and maintain vehicle fluids and complete oil changes as required.
  • Repair and replace tires on company vehicles and equipment.
  • Diagnose and perform moderate-level repairs on yard equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete required service documentation.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and proper tool storage.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste materials in compliance with city, county, and state regulations.
  • Travel to other nursery locations when needed to perform equipment repairs or maintenance.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and perform all work activities safely.
  • Assist other nursery departments when operational support is needed.
  • Maintain company-issued tools and equipment.
  • Participate in training as required to support equipment maintenance and safety programs.
