About The Position

The position involves maintaining and repairing all County equipment, which includes performing preventative maintenance and accurately recording all maintenance and repairs conducted. The role requires the individual to perform maintenance and repair work across various systems, including hydraulic and airbrake systems, electrical systems, tire repair and replacement, as well as general tune-ups and vehicle exterior maintenance. The technician will be responsible for servicing a wide range of County vehicles, including cars, pick-up trucks, motor graders, cranes, dump trucks, and snowplows. Additionally, the role may involve equipment fabrication when necessary and performing complete overhauls on both gas and diesel engines, automatic and standard transmissions, drivelines, hydraulic pumps, carburetors, motor graders, tandems, differentials, hydraulic motors, hoses, and control valve bodies. The technician is also expected to maintain a clean and organized County maintenance shop, ensuring it is efficient and safe for operations. This includes making building repairs as assigned and performing other duties as required. The position demands a high level of mechanical ability and the knowledge and skill to implement mechanical repairs effectively. The technician must be able to make independent judgments regarding equipment repairs and be familiar with all phases of mechanical repair and maintenance involving both light and heavy equipment. Communication skills are essential for conveying and exchanging professional information with colleagues and supervisors.
