About The Position

The Shop Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of construction equipment in a shop environment. This position requires strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical skills to support the repair and service of company and customer-owned machines. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with heavy equipment, a high level of attention to detail, and a strong commitment to customer service and workplace safety. The technician will work closely with service and parts personnel to ensure timely and efficient repairs and maintain equipment performance standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 3–5 years of heavy equipment repair experience required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex systems.
  • Proficiency in laptop-based diagnostics and Microsoft Office.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and service manuals.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and customer-focused attitude.
  • Basic welding skills and tool usage knowledge.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, and use hands to handle tools and equipment.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Class B CDL or willing to obtain is a PLUS

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose construction equipment, including Liebherr, Roadtec, Gomaco, Manitowoc, and Grove machines.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs on equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and general machine upkeep.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools such as laptops, gauges, and instruments to detect equipment faults.
  • Disassemble and reassemble components to OEM specifications.
  • Operate machines to assess repair needs and evaluate repair effectiveness.
  • Perform basic welding and cutting when necessary.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders.
  • Accurately complete service reports, timecards, and checklists.
  • Communicate job status with customers and service office staff.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards.
