About this Opportunity PAM Transport is seeking a highly skilled Shop Manager with a passion for developing new talent in a fleet maintenance environment. We are looking for a strong but fair and inclusive individual to manage all aspects of shop operations including hiring, training and supervising qualified employees while making reactive maintenance a thing of the past. As a member of the PAM Transport family, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on equipment uptime and shop efficiency through the development and execution of long and short term goals, action plans and effective leadership. Schedule and Pay This position is Monday – Friday 7:00AM to 5:00PM. The pay range is $75,000 - $95,000 depending on experience. Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience in maintenance management, repair, or inventory control.
  • Understanding of diesel engines, braking systems, electrical systems, and other major components.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations, ensuring the shop meets all legal requirements.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop technicians and support staff.
  • Addressing unexpected challenges in repairs, staffing, or compliance.
  • Managing relationships with drivers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to changing work demands.
  • Problem-solving skills to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, stoop, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods.
  • Lift, carry, and manipulate objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Operate motor vehicles or large power equipment in tight spaces.
  • Ability to work in a shop setting with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, temperature changes, and outdoor elements.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce housekeeping standards and guidelines.
  • Set and enforce attendance and performance expectations.
  • Responsible for PM and repair of heavy-duty tractors and trailers
  • Maintain a focus on cost control and time management by monitoring and analyzing all opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiency.
  • Promote a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards as well as with all applicable laws/regulations.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality control for all repairs
  • Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all shop staff
  • Managing schedules, PTO coverage, and ensuring sufficient staffing levels.
  • Track, maintain and review Open Repair Orders and Report as directed
  • Maintain regular communication with corporate management.
  • Manage the operation and effectiveness of inspection lanes.
  • Perform internal performance audits for quality and accuracy.
  • Oversee shop inventory and parts procurement
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership to support overall shop operations and business needs.
