Requirements

  • Three to five years of experience in sheet metal or fabrication field required with supervisory/shop management experience a plus.
  • MUST have a positive attitude and be a team player; a servant leader is ideal
  • Ability to establish and execute processes and procedures for lean manufacturing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • MUST have a proactive, not reactive management style.
  • Ability to look and plan ahead, but also able to react to changing circumstances or last-minute changes.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, layout, and CAD software/CNC machinery.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school training is preferred.
  • Ability to lead a team, manage high-volume production, and maintain high standards under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to evaluate job requirements, manage resources, and prioritize tasks to complete job on time
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, often stressful situations, such as multiple high-priority deadlines at once

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with shop foremen and project managers to assure work is continually flowing to production.
  • Assign project workload to shop foreman and monitor completion progress
  • Manage all projects on our internal F: drive system, checking progress several times daily
  • Maintain a clean and orderly shop
  • Coordinate with logistics for incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Maintain all shop inventory, to include consumables; reorder when needed
  • Follow lean processes for all shop materials, and ensure scrap is disposed of properly
  • Ensure that housekeeping is completed daily, to include shop restrooms
  • Maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the organization’s products and/or development processes; revise the QA system when needed; ensure employees are following procedures
  • Develops, implements, and manages processes to ensure that products meet required customer specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery.
  • Track rework and assess causes; revise the production process to correct output
  • Manage daily fabrication workflows, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to project deadlines.
  • Enforce first-time quality standards; inspect finished products to meet specs and enforce OSHA compliance.
  • Oversee project budgeting, cost monitoring, and accurate time/material tracking.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff; assign work; and manage performance.
  • Coordinate with maintenance department to maintain machinery, including CNC equipment, laser/plasma cutters, and brake presses.
  • Manage raw material inventory, including stock levels and procurement.
  • Coordinate with project managers and clients to address inquiries and provide status updates.
  • Review and approve employee timecards for accuracy
  • Other duties as assigned by management
