About The Position

ARG Petro is seeking a high-accountability Shop Manager to lead our fleet maintenance operations with a relentless focus on safety, compliance, quality, and readiness. This role is responsible for diesel tractor repair, tanker refurbishment, and all maintenance software administration. The Shop Manager ensures equipment is repaired correctly the first time, fully documented, and compliant with DOT and company standards before release to operations. This is a mission-critical leadership role. Fleet uptime, regulatory compliance, and safety performance start in the shop. What Success Looks Like Equipment is safe, compliant, and inspection-ready at all times. Repairs are completed correctly and efficiently. Documentation is audit-ready and accurate. Downtime is minimized without compromising compliance. The shop runs with discipline, structure, and accountability.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience managing diesel technicians or fleet maintenance teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Experience validating repairs and inspections prior to equipment release.
  • Familiarity with CMMS or fleet maintenance systems.
  • Experience managing labor hours and shop productivity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with tanker equipment or fuel transportation fleets.
  • Background in regulated fleet environments.
  • Understanding of OEM maintenance guidelines and warranty processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop diesel technicians, tanker refurb personnel, and maintenance software administrators.
  • Assign and prioritize work based on safety, compliance, and operational urgency.
  • Prepare and maintain records for environmental inspections or audits.
  • Hold the team accountable to quality, productivity, and safety standards.
  • Approve timecards and manage labor allocation.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee all diesel and tanker repair activities.
  • Coordinate waste disposal used oil handling, and environmental documentation.
  • Validate completed repairs before equipment is released.
  • Ensure all DOT defects, inspection items, and corrective actions are fully resolved.
  • Confirm repairs align with OEM standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive “fix it right the first time” execution.
  • Maintain fleet compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company standards.
  • Ensure inspections, work orders, and documentation are complete before notifying operations.
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Partner with operations leadership to balance uptime with compliance discipline.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, including TCEQ requirements.
  • Oversee maintenance system accuracy and record management.
  • Ensure all work orders, inspections, repairs, and parts usage are properly entered and closed.
  • Monitor reporting for compliance tracking and cost control.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation at all times.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between shop and operations.
  • Provide proactive updates on equipment status and delays.
  • Coordinate with vendors, parts suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
