THE OPPORTUNITY The Shop Helper will be responsible for helping service technicians whenever needed and helping to maintain a safe, clean working environment for all dealership employees and customers. This position is for those planning to enter a technician’s apprenticeship in the near future. This position is located at our sales and service dealership location in El Cajon, CA. Requirements

Training in the Diesel Mechanics Technology Program
Basic mechanical knowledge of Class 8 Trucks preferred
Strong organizational skills
Detail-oriented
Ability to proactively problem-solve and think logically
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Good multi-tasking ability
Strong interpersonal skills
Functions well with large volume and fast-paced work environment.
Strong business ethics with a professional approach at all times
Accountability and dependability
Time management
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 kgs or 50 pounds.
Must be able to walk around shop floor and exterior yard area (long periods standing / walking).
Must have the mobility to easily access and egress trucks and equipment

Nice To Haves

Basic mechanical knowledge of Class 8 Trucks preferred

Responsibilities

Assists and watches technicians to learn their trade with the intention of proceeding to a full apprenticeship.
Performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned by technicians or shop foreman and service manager.
Cleans oil storage tanks according to prescribed procedures.
Drains and disposes of used oil filters properly.
Assists technicians with oil and water spills, and with emptying drain tubs.
Runs errands as directed by foreman
Sweeps technician stalls, service department and body shop floors, showroom, halls and vending areas.
Washes shop truck, inside and out.
Cleans the service and customer areas.
Washes all windows, glass doors and glass panels throughout service area.
Empties and cleans all trash receptacles, inside and outside.
Removes all debris from lot.
Uses proper eye, hand and body personal protective equipment when using products that require protection.
