About The Position

Job Summary: Performs entry level maintenance, repairs, and assistance in the shop to support school bus operations. Duties/Responsibilities: Perform thorough, accurate PM inspections Follow company required schedules and complete all required PM maintenance operations including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustment, and tire rotation Perform unscheduled maintenance as needed and directed by supervisor Perform minor repairs like lights and seat covers Document repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately Maintain tools and work place so that shop conditions are neat and orderly Required Skills/Abilities-Essential Functions: Basic knowledge of mechanics and maintenance of diesel vehicles Basic working knowledge of computers and abiltiy to learn new applications/software May require on-call duty, extended hours, or weekend work on occassion While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to heat, cold, wet and/or humid weather conditions The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud Attend work on a regular and dependable basis Ability to successfully pass state and/or federal required Background Checks Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting equipment up to 100 lbs. Ability to comply with all policies and procedures established by company Education and Experience: This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by specialized vehicle and equipment repair courses applicable to diesel bus or truck maintenance and repair. At least one (1) year experience as a mechanic in an automotive, school bus, trucking or heavy equipment environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. ASE certification is a plus. Valid CDL is preferred, willingness and ability to obtain CDL, required.
