About The Position

Be a part of our Martin Equipment work family! The Part-Time Shop Assistant is an entry-level position designed to support daily operations within the service, parts, and facility areas of the dealership. This role provides hands-on exposure to a shop environment while developing safe work habits, reliability, and basic workplace skills. The Shop Assistant works closely with experienced team members and supervisors while performing a variety of non-technical tasks that help keep the dealership operating efficiently. This position is for summer help, 4-5 days per week, primarily June and July. Under direct supervision, the Shop Assistant will perform a variety of duties that may change based on daily needs and workload. Duties include, but are not limited to: Assist with shop organization and cleanliness, including sweeping floors and maintaining work areas Wash, clean, and detail equipment following proper safety guidelines Support the parts department with basic projects and organization tasks Help maintain clean, orderly, and safe lot and outdoor areas Assist technicians and staff with general, non‑technical support tasks Safely move tools, materials, and equipment as directed Follow all safety rules, procedures, and training requirements Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times Communicate respectfully and work cooperatively as part of a team Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned This role does not include mechanical or technical repair work. Receives on-the-job training and clear direction from supervisors and experienced team members Learns basic shop procedures, safety practices, and workplace expectations Gains exposure to dealership operations within service and parts environments Expected to ask questions, take feedback, and apply coaching to improve performance Must demonstrate a strong commitment to working safely at all times Required to follow all company safety policies and procedures Required to wear appropriate PPE for shop and lot environments Immediately reports unsafe conditions or incidents to supervision WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS The Shop Assistant plays an important role in supporting our technicians, parts team, and overall dealership operations. Requirements

  • Entry-level; ideal for high school students or early college individuals
  • Reliable, dependable, and punctual with scheduled work hours
  • Coachable and open to learning new tasks and expectations
  • Positive attitude and willingness to contribute as part of a team
  • Ability to perform physical tasks typical of a shop environment, with or without accommodation
  • Under the age of 18, cannot drive company-owned vehicles.
  • Over the age of 18, can drive company-owned vehicles and operate a fork truck after training and passing test, and passing MVR.
