About The Position

Venture Dynamics is seeking an experienced Shipyard Project Manager to lead overhaul, repair, and modernization availabilities for U.S. Navy vessels. This Shipyard Project Manager role oversees projects from the Planning Phase through final milestone completion and delivery back to the customer. The position serves as the primary interface with Government project authorities and internal leadership while directing multi-trade ship repair execution in active naval shipyard environments. Candidates must have demonstrated experience managing complex shipboard availabilities involving cost, schedule, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of shipboard repair experience in a public or private shipyard environment
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing technical personnel or shipboard availabilities
  • Demonstrated experience managing overhaul, alteration, repair, or testing of Navy vessels
  • Experience developing and managing schedules using Microsoft Project
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with cost control, budget tracking, and contract performance monitoring
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Government facility access and security credentials as required
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel and manage ship repair availabilities in remote or out-of-state locations when required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Science, or related discipline
  • Experience supporting cost-type or fixed-type contracts
  • Experience leading multiple Project Managers or Assistant Project Managers
  • Experience supporting dock trials, sea trials, or post-repair testing events
  • OSHA 10 Maritime certification

Responsibilities

  • Manage ship repair availabilities from project development through final milestone completion and vessel delivery
  • Serve as primary point of contact with Government project authorities, customer representatives, and internal departments
  • Develop project scopes, work packages, cost estimates, schedules, and resource allocation plans
  • Build and maintain detailed schedules using Microsoft Project or comparable scheduling software
  • Coordinate structural, mechanical, electrical, coatings, and subcontractor activities to meet production milestones
  • Monitor and control project budgets, cost performance, forecasting, and schedule impacts
  • Lead cross-functional production meetings and provide structured progress reporting
  • Identify scope changes, schedule conflicts, and risk impacts and implement corrective action
  • Oversee quality verification to ensure work complies with NAVSEA specifications and contract requirements
  • Ensure project data, documentation, and financial reporting are entered accurately into management systems
  • Provide supervisory oversight for assigned project personnel and support staff
