About The Position

As a Shipping Team Lead I at Sonoco, you will be responsible for leading and working hands-on with the Shipping Team in Hartselle, AL. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the team through excellent attendance and a safety-first mindset. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with other departments, making process adjustments, monitoring product quality, and driving team performance. You will also maintain a clean and organized work area, perform administrative tasks, and assist other departments as needed.

Requirements

• 5 years prior manufacturing experience preferred
• Forklift experience required
• Shipping & Receiving experience preferred
• Core manufacturing experience required
• Previous leadership experience in manufacturing leading a crew/team required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to perform basic production-related computations
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Integrity in relation to safety, quality, and customer service
• Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions and specification sheets
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and solve machine issues
• Understanding of continuous improvement methodology and experience with continuous improvement tools
• Ability to identify opportunities and lead improvements
• Knowledge of computer-based programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed

Responsibilities

• Leading a team of employees using multiple manufacturing lines
• Collaborating closely with other departments and teams
• Making incremental process adjustments and monitoring product quality
• Providing expected deliverables and completing required administrative tasks
• Driving and inspiring the team to improve performance to meet and exceed goals
• Utilizing critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to set up new jobs and operate various manufacturing machines
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area
• Performing all duties as designated by the plant manager in support of Sonoco's quality and safety policies
• Assisting other departments as needed
