About The Position

The Shipping Supervisor position is a critical role within the operations management team, responsible for overseeing the shipping department and ensuring that all shipping processes are executed efficiently and effectively. This position requires a hands-on approach to leadership, as the Shipping Supervisor will assist the shipping manager in identifying work procedures, preparing work schedules, and expediting workflow to meet production goals. In this role, the Shipping Supervisor will issue written and oral instructions to team members, examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures, and study and standardize procedures to improve the efficiency of workers. The supervisor will also be responsible for maintaining harmony among workers and resolving any grievances that may arise. A key aspect of this position is ensuring the correct shipment of international orders and hazardous material orders, which requires a thorough understanding of shipping regulations and compliance. The Shipping Supervisor will monitor the productivity of Material Handlers, assist employees with work process problems, and supervise the production and technical activity of production lines. Additionally, the supervisor will monitor departmental performance metrics to ensure that production requirements are met and provide first-level support for any escalated issues during the work shift. Training, motivating, and supporting staff in all areas of company and departmental procedures and expectations is essential, as is coaching and counseling employees on performance deficiencies while providing positive reinforcement when performance is on target. The role also includes completing employee attendance and payroll requirements, preparing and administering daily performance feedback, and reporting as required. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the overall operations of the shipping department.
