About The Position

The Shipping Supervisor will oversee shipping operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring timely and accurate shipment of products while maintaining high safety and efficiency standards. This role requires strong leadership skills and knowledge of ERP systems, as well as the ability to manage a team effectively.

Requirements

• Strong computer/shipping software knowledge
• 2-3 years shipping Lead/Supervisor experience
• Customer service and telephone experience
• Experience quoting and negotiating shipping rates
• Experience shipping using UPS, FedEx, LTL, and Truckload
• Experience filing freight claims
• Knowledge of packaging and shipping standards
• Experience using a pallet jack
• Experience driving a tow motor/fork truck

Responsibilities

• Delegate workload to meet deadlines
• Recognize changes in workflow and adjust shipments and scheduling accordingly
• Negotiate quotes from shipping companies
• Ship products via UPS, FedEx, LTL, and truckload as appropriate
• File freight claims
• Oversee day-to-day shipping operations
• Provide customer service via telephone regarding shipments
• Maintain and build a team environment with open communication
• Motivate shipping team to meet packing and shipping deadlines
• Prepare orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in staging area for pickup
• Coordinate with all departments to fulfill specific and ongoing inventory and shipping needs
• Aid in cleaning and preparation of product for packing
• Pack and ship items securely and effectively to minimize breakage
• Build and wrap pallets for secure shipment with freight carriers
• Accurately fill all orders, pack all items properly and in a timely manner
• Ensure outgoing shipments are secure, well organized, and properly labeled
• Conduct weekly inventory of shipping supplies
• Ensure a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, packing area, and workstations neat; maintaining clean shipping supply area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
• Lead by example
• Train new employees to the level of expectation
• Enforce company policies and safety protocols
• Recognize and listen to team members' feedback in resolving issues
• Perform other duties as assigned
