About The Position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Roselle: Compiles and maintains records of orders processed by the Traffic department. Inputs tracking information into Oracle. Ensures daily compliance of the shipping schedule. Coordinates inbound and outbound shipments. Contacts carriers, sales reps, vendors, brokers, freight forwarders, etc. when needed. Determines the best solution for emergency pickups and deliveries while keeping the cost down and ensuring that all specific customer requirements are met. Creates and maintains all shipping related documents. Helps guide and educate personnel in other departments to manage and analyze freight correctly. Resolves errors and customer complaints and ensures effective corrective measures are put into place. Analyzes and documents system process flow and recommends and develops better solutions to achieve process improvement and expense reduction. Develops written procedures to document processes and to assist in training. Performs basic computer applications for item inquiry, order organizer, shipping transactions, invoicing, etc. to help process the shipment. Prepares and prints shipping labels corresponding to shipping needs. Processes orders based on the buyer’s preferred shipping system (e.g. USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.) Maintains a clean and safe work area and updates and replenishes supplies as needed. Maintains process data entries for various logs (i.e. International/Amazon/IHERB logs etc.) to track how long it took from the point of release to ship and progression through each point of the process. Responsible for timely shipment turns (moving out shipments of inventory that are on the dock) of both International and domestic shipments. Reconciles staged shipments daily to ensure timely shipping. Maintains department 6S programs utilizing the 6S Audit Form. Ensures quality and effective communication between Customer Service, Sales and Shipping teams. Truthfully and legibly completes required paperwork, written and electronic reports (i.e. Excel, Word, Oracle, etc.). Actively participates in root cause analysis and other plant continuous improvement initiatives. Recommends and assists with implementing continuous improvement ideas. Complies with safety requirements, GMP requirements, and SOPs/WIs for work area. SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT Supports a culture of safe production and exhibits safe work practices. Actively participates in the safety program by engaging in safety activities. Effectively provides and accepts constructive peer-to-peer feedback on safety performance. Adheres to policies, procedures, SOP’s, safe work practices, and safety policies and procedures. Reports ALL workplace incidents to supervisor immediately. Communicates concerns to supervisor, reports hazards, and provides input on prevention. Properly uses, wears, and stores Personal Protective Equipment when required. Participates on safety teams and/or completes safety-related activities as part of regular job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five years’ of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing GMP and distribution environment, preferably food or pharmaceuticals required.
  • Knowledge and experience in CFR 49 required.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic and shipping area to make decisions on shipping and freight to keep costs low while ensuring orders are shipped to customers timely and according to customer specifications.
  • Collaborates with other departments and vendors to resolve errors and customer complaints.
  • Analyzes shipping and freight system process flow and recommends process improvements and expense reduction.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet quality, safety and efficiency goals.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to effectively relate to team members from various backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated ability through certification to work as a Material Handler I or Material Handler II in Roselle and Bloomingdale 391 and 395 warehouses.
  • When assigned to work at the Bloomingdale manufacturing facilities, ability to work at both 391 AND 395 locations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees in regards to operational procedures.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends to support the business.
