About The Position

The Quality Specialist I maintains and improves the quality management system in accordance with company policies and procedures. They review incoming materials, measure products that arrive with a variety of tools and makes sure they are within tolerance levels set by Delkor and works collaboratively with Production, Procurement, and the Machine Shop to provide an ongoing inventory of parts necessary to fill customer machine orders. The Quality Specialist I job description is intended to point out major duties and authorities within the position, but it is not limited to these items.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Exposure to process and internal quality audits, preferably in an environment with ISO or a similar quality control system.
  • General knowledge in using key Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience working with measurement tools (e.g. calipers, micrometers, gages, etc.) and overseeing a calibration system.
  • Able to read and interpret specifications, blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Perform basic math calculations and working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately.
  • Works well with a variety of people and personalities, and with other Delkor departments.
  • Works collaboratively, as a team member, to suggest ideas and resolve issues in a positive manner.
  • Well organized with an aptitude for details.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple efforts with strong results/goal orientation.
  • Works independently and accurately with minimal supervision.

  • Apply physical mobility (reaching, bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, and arm and leg extension) to perform all assembly production activities.
  • Possess extensive arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, hold, reach, carry, push and pull parts. Also able to move parts, tools, equipment and materials in and out of vehicles.
  • Lift 10-40 pounds regularly; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an engineer-to-order environment is preferred.
  • Experience in a capital equipment production environment is a plus.
  • Lean manufacturing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review incoming material, in-process production and finished goods to ensure conformance to specifications; conduct visual inspection and measurement tests; help coordinate and approve the return/rework of nonconforming materials.
  • Document inspection and audit results: Complete (nonconformance) reports and logs
  • Work with other functions across the organization and with suppliers to troubleshoot root causes, solve problems and improve processes in order to reduce non-conformances, rework, scrap, and eliminate waste; implement corrective and preventative actions to avoid recurrence of issues.
  • Oversee the DMR/NCR/MRR process for discrepant materials.
  • Develop and document procedures as part of the Quality Management System; train co-workers in company procedures and quality assurance techniques as needed.
  • Train contract/temporary employees in incoming/in-process inspection criteria; help coordinate third party inspections/sorting if needed.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following all housekeeping standards, work instructions and procedures.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks requiring daily completion.
  • Verify Machine Shop and QC shelf contents to be received into inventory.
  • Monitor and ensures needed parts are received throughout the day.
  • Monitor inventory receiving and shipping volumes expected each day.
  • View reorganizing efforts for overall effectiveness of inventory control.
  • Expedite completion of the Shortage Report.
  • Monitor the report for parts that are in stock and available for delivery to the assembly floor.
  • Receive inventory deliveries.
  • Assist with unloading trucks with large delivery orders.
  • Verify the Packing Slip - matching part number/manufacture part number and quantity to Purchase Order.
  • Physically inspect all receiving for accuracy and/or damage.
  • Deliver inventory to the stockroom or assembly floor.
  • Monitor the Shortage Report for inventory needed on the assembly floor.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned.
