About The Position

The Shipping and Receiving Operator at Westinghouse Electric Co. plays a crucial role in supporting the company's mission to provide clean energy solutions. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Six months to a year of experience required.
  • Ability to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, goggles, etc.).
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Mobile equipment certified.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receive oral and written instructions from manager and perform assignments according to departmental procedures.
  • Load and unload trucks and other vehicles; operate forklift and other material handling equipment.
  • Receive materials, verify quantities and weights, and process receipts using a computer terminal.
  • Verify, record, and report damage, shortages, and overages for claims and discrepancies.
  • Deliver storeroom and received goods to designated plant-site areas accurately and timely.
  • Maintain required files for receiving functions, such as waybills and shipping orders.
  • Comply with routine instructions on generated move tickets for material delivery.
  • Receive equipment and materials into storeroom inventory, verifying counts and conformance to procedures.
  • Retrieve material from the warehouse for issuance to plant departments as requested.
  • Maintain the stores area for efficient storage and retrieval of materials and supplies.
  • Maintain stock inventory levels and make necessary inventory adjustments.
  • Package, mark, stencil, and weigh products and materials for shipment.
  • Keep up to date on regulations applicable to hazardous materials packaging and shipment.
  • Requisition shipping cartons and containers to specifications, determining dimensions and materials for strength/cost ratio.
  • Release shipments to carriers, verifying accuracy and attachment of shipping documents.
  • Notify carriers of schedules, routing, sizes, and handling requirements.
  • Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping in the work area.
