The Shipping Department Material Handler is responsible for operating a Hi-Lo as a means of moving product in a safe and efficient manner. Material handlers must deal with the stress of managing multiple tasks at once, and prioritizing tasks based on the situation at hand. They may be asked to perform multiple roles depending on what is necessary on any given day. Their greatest skill is having the ability to understand the safety/product/quality and relate this to the team.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of warehouse/manufacturing experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years Forklift experience.
  • Ability to take coaching well and communicate respectfully with others.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and initiative.
  • Willingness to learn and be adaptable to change in a growth-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and compute simple math problems.
  • Prior SAP or similar ERP system knowledge.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to safe work practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support, demonstrate and promote Pregis’ core values: integrity, collaboration, customer focus and innovation.
  • Ensure safe handling and movement of all products and racks.
  • Monitor and communicate accurate inventory control within the warehouse.
  • Load/Unload incoming and outgoing trucks.
  • Perform periodic audits of stored materials for quality compliance.
  • Process all shipping and receiving documentation and records.
  • Maintain a current and valid Hi-Lo license.
  • Adhere to the highest standards of company safety programs, guidelines, rules, and regulations.
  • Housekeeping throughout assigned shift to ensure an orderly and safe environment.
  • Physical and visual inspection of product to prevent non-conforming goods.
  • Promptly report all quality defects to the appropriate team members.
  • Attend meetings and complete safety trainings as required.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
