JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Shipping, Receiving & Inventory Specialist Department: Manufacturing Reports To: Plant Manager Status: Non-Exempt Salary Range: $24.00 - $28.00 (Actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience) Summary: The Shipping, Receiving & Inventory Specialist is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound logistics, maintaining accurate inventory records, and executing hands-on warehouse activities including picking, parts allocation, project staging, and order fulfillment. This role blends physical warehouse execution with system-based inventory management and external communication with freight carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical or logistics training preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or inventory management.
  • Forklift certification or demonstrated forklift experience required.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ERP or warehouse management system experience preferred.
  • Experience coordinating freight shipments and communicating with external logistics providers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communicator with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to balance hands-on warehouse work with system-based and administrative tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to use both hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls, stand for long periods of time and repeat the same motions. Must also be able to push, pull and maneuver up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and negotiate transportation of goods with freight carriers, logistics providers, and customers as needed.
  • Prepare, label, document, and expedite outgoing shipments to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
  • Receive, inspect, and document incoming materials; verify quantities and part numbers against packing lists and purchase orders.
  • Maintain accurate inventory transactions within company ERP and inventory management systems.
  • Pick, kit, and stage materials for manufacturing and project orders in alignment with production schedules.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move, stage, and store materials safely.
  • Identify and report damaged or nonconforming materials to Quality and Purchasing teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to warehouse layout, inventory accuracy, and logistics efficiency.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, and Project Management teams.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and shipping environment.
  • Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety in accordance with Newterra’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with Quality Management Systems in accordance Newterra’s internal quality standards.
  • Complete all responsibilities while ensuring adherence to Newterra’s Delegation of Authority.
  • Other duties as assigned.
