About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Contractor is responsible for supporting day-to-day shipping, receiving, and inventory activities to ensure timely, accurate handling of packages, equipment, and supplies. This is a 9-month contract with the potential to extend based on business needs. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while coordinating with internal teams, carriers, and vendors.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in shipping/receiving, mailroom, facilities support, office operations, or warehouse/logistics coordination (or equivalent).
  • Strong attention to detail (tracking numbers, serial numbers, documentation accuracy).
  • Comfortable with Excel and basic tracking systems (SAP/Oracle experience is a plus, not required).
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset when working with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods as needed.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to prioritize tasks in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

  • Shipping & Receiving Support: Receive, log, and distribute incoming deliveries; prepare outgoing shipments (packaging, labeling, and carrier pickup coordination).
  • Verification & Documentation: Match shipments to packing slips/purchase orders; flag damages, shortages, or discrepancies and escalate as needed.
  • Inventory Tracking: Maintain accurate shipment and inventory records using tracking tools/spreadsheets; ensure items are stored in the correct locations.
  • Asset Handling: Assist with tagging/logging equipment (including high-value items) and ensuring proper chain-of-custody and secure storage procedures are followed.
  • Carrier/Vendor Coordination: Track deliveries, follow up on delays, and support claims for lost/damaged shipments when required.
  • Workspace Organization: Keep shipping/receiving areas clean, organized, and compliant with basic safety standards.
  • Process Improvement: Identify recurring issues (missed deliveries, tracking gaps, labeling errors) and suggest practical improvements.
