About The Position

The Shipping / Receiving Clerk is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, quality, and safety of all shipping and receiving operations to meet customer requirements. This role operates forklifts, hand trucks and clamp trucks to move, locate, relocate, stack, unload, load, and count materials and merchandise. The Clerk supports inbound, inter-warehouse, and outbound product movement while maintaining company standards for safety, productivity, quality, and accuracy. The position also requires documentation preparation for all incoming and outgoing shipments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of forklift operating experience
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, scanner systems)
  • Strong experience using handheld scanners
  • Experience of using warehouse management software
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer and data-entry capabilities
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and productivity
  • Prioritize tasks based on urgency, safety, and operational needs
  • Shift focus quickly between physical tasks (e.g., loading/unloading) and administrative duties (e.g., data entry, documentation)
  • Handle interruptions while maintaining workflow efficiency
  • Must stand and walk on the plant floor for 8+ hours
  • Must be able to lift up to 50–75 pounds
  • Must tolerate temperatures ranging from approximately 50°F to 110°F+
  • Must demonstrate strong attendance, punctuality, and dependability
  • Must maintain flexibility with assigned work schedules
  • Proven Forklift Experience list on resume is required

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report faulty equipment, damages, or safety concerns to the Shipping / Receiving / Logistics Manager.
  • Conduct routine pre- and post-operation forklift inspections and assist with minor troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Complete trailer inspection checklists prior to loading or unloading all trucks entering the facility.
  • Safely load and unload products using forklifts, hand trucks, or other material-handling equipment.
  • Complete shipping and receiving checklists for every outgoing and incoming order.
  • Ensure all loads are properly secured to prevent shifting; take photos of all outbound shipments.
  • Report quality or documentation discrepancies immediately before releasing drivers or finalizing transactions in the system.
  • Perform weekly warehouse building inspections.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety policies and promptly report hazards.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Utilize strong computer skills including data entry, Excel, Word, and scanning systems.
  • Create Bills of Lading (BOLs) and packing lists according to customer requirements.
  • Use Radius software to record received products and assign proper storage locations.
  • Communicate raw material receipts to appropriate personnel.
  • Complete all assignments accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Perform inventory cycle counts.
  • Maintain required records for GMP, FSC, FSI, and ISO compliance.
  • Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory rotation procedures.
  • Maintain a clean warehouse and office environment, store equipment properly.
  • Efficiently stack and store merchandise in designated locations.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate raw material and finished goods inventory both physically and in Radius.
  • Track and document outbound Recycling Vendor shipments.
  • Maintain daily spreadsheet reports for incoming items and Recycling Vendor movements; report as directed.
  • Schedule inbound and outbound loads via email or phone and update the daily load calendar.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) regarding shipment details.
  • Communicate with Production and Quality Assurance when orders are received and entered into Radius.
  • Assist other departments with projects as needed.
  • Be cross trained in all areas of the Shipping and Receiving department.
