About The Position

POSITION FUNCTION: Responsible for performing multiple Materials Control activities to assure the timely and efficient delivery, retrieval, storage and tracking of production materials within Johnson & Quin. Under the guidance of the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, the Shipping & Receiving Clerk will prioritize work assignments, prepare departmental documentation, input data into the Materials Management module of Monarch System. Also communicates with other internal departments and outside trucking vendors to ensure accurate and timely delivery and retrieval of materials.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years shipping & receiving/inventory control experience with knowledge of computerized inventory and warehousing functions;
  • Excellent forklift operation skills and thorough knowledge of loading techniques and trailer loads.
  • Solid time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Good oral communications skills demonstrated by courtesy, tact, and good judgement in contact with vendors and internal personnel.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to spot errors with accuracy and efficiency
  • Excellent typing skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office products, UPS/FedEx systems, inventory control systems, etc.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate computer keyboards.
  • Able to bend, push, and pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to read handwritten documents and computer system screen

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with the S&R Supervisor to determine priority work assignments for the shift.
  • Schedules daily outbound mail pick-up through various freight providers.
  • Accurately and efficiently processes incoming materials and returns to stock and enters daily postal report jobs through use of Monarch. Verifies incoming materials with the bill of lading or packing slip to assure counts, identification of components of shipment, quality of shipment, etc.; utilizes scales and weight verification process to log counts; and enters materials into Monarch producing bar coded skid flags and reports as necessary. Scans bar codes for location in the warehouse and electronically distributes appropriate reports to internal departments and submits departmental reports and Bills of Lading to S&R Supervisor to close Purchase Orders in Monarch.
  • Create and scan pallets (flags) to be shipped (after verifying skids on floor match mail drop schedule) into manifest, creating the Bill of Lading.
  • Unloads and loads truck(s) and provides appropriate documentation to S&R Supervisor.
  • Scans intelligent mail barcodes (IMBs) within the Lettershop server. Calculates and records weight of skids and materials being recycled, generates skid flags, using appropriate coding and weights, and affixes to bales/gaylords, and loads trucks. Provides copies of skid flags to S&R Supervisor.
  • Monitors material in the warehouse, obtains physical inventory counts upon request and compares information to data in the Monarch system before consolidating warehoused inventory when directed by Shipping & Receiving Supervisor.
  • Processes stock requests by locating the materials through Monarch; delivers requested materials to departmental holding areas; picks up and takes physical counts of materials to be returned to warehouse; relocates stock to warehouse; and consolidates customer stock when necessary.
  • Performs the parcel and package shipping through the “Power Ship” system or UPS online system, producing the required reports from each system and backing up the system files as necessary. Recording shipping costs into Monarch. Orders and maintains supplies for each of the parcel shipment systems, acts as liaison with parcel carrier for tracking purposes and assistance when needed.
  • Prints various reports and documents such as: lettershop tray tags, commingle tray tags, , , and pallet placards.
  • Verifies commingle piece/skid weight for every outbound shipment and files scanned commingle pieces in proper location.
  • Complies with all Corporate Security policies.
  • Completes other various duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
