The Material Handler will play a crucial role in managing the flow of materials throughout the warehouse and production areas using Kanban and other inventory control methodologies. This position ensures accurate and timely delivery of materials to internal and external customers, maintains inventory integrity, and adheres to all safety and quality standards

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is typically required.
  • Experience: Previous experience (1-2 years minimum) in a warehouse, logistics, or material handling role, with familiarity in inventory control practices, is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in operating material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks).
  • Experience with inventory management software and data entry (e.g., Epicor, Mercury, MS Office).
  • Strong communication and mathematical skills
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address inventory issues and material shortages.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy materials, typically 35 pounds, and the physical stamina to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Due to government regulation only US persons (U.S. citizen, U.S. naturalized citizen, U.S. permanent resident, holder of U.S. approved political asylee or refugee status) may be considered for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Material Movement: Safely and efficiently move materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods to and from receiving, storage, and production areas using material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
  • Kanban System Management: Apply and maintain Kanban and point-of-use replenishment systems, ensuring that production lines have the necessary materials at the right time to prevent stockouts or overproduction. This includes pulling materials from the warehouse to replenish Kanban carts and designated staging areas.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Load and unload delivery trucks, inspect incoming materials for quality and quantity against purchase orders, and prepare finished products for shipment, including proper packaging, labeling and inspection.
  • Inventory Control and Accuracy: Conduct regular part counts and physical yearly inventory, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and ensure all inventory transactions are accurately recorded in Epicor and Mercury or other ERP systems.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of material movements, inventory levels, and any damaged or defective items between buildings, and process necessary documentation for returns (RTVs) and quality control.
  • Safety and Housekeeping: Comply with all Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and company safety protocols. Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work environment in accordance with 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with logistics, procurement, quality assurance, and production teams to standardize and improve inventory and material flow processes.
